FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Before your visit.
Answers to practical questions about your visit. If anything about your health or hair might affect your treatment, please contact us before booking.
Your appointment
When should I arrive?
Please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment for your scalp consultation. For group bookings, allow an extra 5 minutes for each additional guest: 15 minutes early for 2 guests, 20 minutes for 3, and 25 minutes for 4. Please ensure everyone in your group arrives at this time.
| Guests | When to arrive |
|---|---|
| 1 guest | 10 minutes early |
| 2 guests | 15 minutes early |
| 3 guests | 20 minutes early |
| 4 guests | 25 minutes early |
How long should I allow for my appointment?
For an individual appointment, allow at least 70 minutes for the 60-minute Premium Head Spa or 100 minutes for the 90-minute Premium Head Spa, including your pre-treatment scalp consultation. Please allow additional time afterwards if you wish to dry and style your hair. For group bookings, follow the arrival times listed above.
Will my hair be blow dried?
A professional blow dry is not included. We towel dry your hair after treatment, and a hairdryer and brush are available for you to use before leaving.
Can I use my phone or record my treatment?
To keep the treatment rooms quiet, please switch your phone to silent and put it away during your treatment. If you would like to record your treatment, please let your therapist know before it begins.
Groups and rooms
Can I book for a group?
We can accommodate up to five guests at a time, and group appointments can be booked through Fresha (opens in a new tab). For groups of five, please contact us before booking.
Will we be in the same room?
We have one double treatment room and private single rooms. Booking together does not guarantee the double room. If you would like to share a room, please contact us before booking so we can confirm availability. Groups of three or more will be accommodated across multiple rooms.
Visiting in person
If you require a downstairs treatment room, please contact us before booking so we can confirm availability.
Your hair and scalp
You don’t need to have any scalp concern to visit
You don’t need a scalp concern to enjoy Hikari. Personalised care and time to relax are part of every visit.
Can I visit with braids or extensions?
Our therapists are trained to work with hair extensions. However, for the best access to your scalp, we recommend waiting around one month after having your extensions refitted or retaped, particularly with weft and tape extensions. If you are unsure about your hairstyle, please contact us before booking.
What if I have recently coloured or chemically treated my hair?
We recommend waiting at least a week after colour, keratin or any other chemical hair treatment before your head spa, and at least a week after your head spa before any chemical hair service.
Health and accessibility
If you have an underlying medical condition, recent procedure, or any concerns about whether a Head Spa is suitable for you, we recommend consulting your doctor or treating healthcare professional before your appointment.
When We May Need to Modify or Postpone Your Treatment
For your safety, we may need to postpone or modify your treatment if any of the following apply:
- Recent Botox or anti-wrinkle injections: please follow the aftercare period recommended by your injector, particularly if the forehead, face, scalp or neck was treated.
- Recent dermal fillers: please allow the recommended recovery period and follow your injector’s aftercare advice before having a Head Spa.
- Recent surgery: including medical, reconstructive or cosmetic procedures. Please ensure you have recovered sufficiently and obtain clearance from your treating practitioner where appropriate.
- Recent laser, microneedling, chemical peel or other skin procedures: If you have recently had a procedure involving the face or neck, we recommend choosing our 60-minute Head Spa. If you prefer the 90-minute session, you may choose to exclude the extended neck and shoulder massage to avoid unnecessary pressure on recently treated areas. Please always follow the aftercare instructions provided by your treating practitioner.
- Open wounds, cuts, burns or broken skin on the scalp or areas involved in the treatment.
- Active scalp or skin infection, including suspected bacterial, fungal or contagious conditions.
- Head lice or other contagious scalp infestations.
- Significant scalp inflammation, bleeding, weeping, severe irritation or unexplained lesions.
- Severe sunburn or recent burns affecting the scalp, face or neck.
- Fever, acute illness or feeling significantly unwell.
- Vomiting, diarrhoea or significant abdominal symptoms on the day of your appointment.
- Significant or unexplained swelling or oedema.
- Alcohol intoxication or significant alcohol consumption immediately before your appointment.
If you are unsure whether any of the above applies to you, please contact us before booking.
Please Let Us Know Before Your Appointment
The following do not necessarily prevent you from enjoying a Head Spa, but letting us know in advance allows our team to better prepare for your visit.
Pregnancy
Pregnant guests are welcome. Please note that our treatment beds are not reclinable or adjustable; however, we can use positioning aids and additional support to help make you as comfortable as possible. If you have a high-risk or complex pregnancy, or any medical concerns, please consult your obstetrician or healthcare provider before booking.
Vertigo or dizziness
If you experience vertigo, dizziness, discomfort when lying flat, or symptoms associated with changes in position, please let us know before your appointment. We can discuss your needs and use positioning aids where appropriate.
Mobility or difficulty using stairs
Most of our treatment rooms are located upstairs. We have one treatment room available on the ground floor for guests who have difficulty using stairs or use mobility aids. Please mention this when booking so we can allocate the ground-floor room where available.
Difficulty lying flat
If you have back, neck, breathing or other concerns that make lying flat uncomfortable, please let us know before your appointment so we can discuss whether suitable positioning can be provided.
Medical conditions or recent procedures
If you have a medical condition, are recovering from a procedure, or are uncertain whether treatment is appropriate for you, please contact us before booking. We may recommend obtaining advice or clearance from your treating healthcare professional.
When in doubt, please contact us before your appointment. Our team will be happy to discuss your circumstances and advise whether the treatment can proceed or whether medical guidance may be appropriate.

View our cancellation policyWill my existing gift card still cover my treatment after the price change?
Gift cards purchased before 1 October 2026 for a specific treatment will continue to cover that treatment in full.
